Eid al-Adha 2027 and 2028 in Rwanda
Islamic holidays like Eid al-Adha have official public holiday status in Rwanda, even though only about two percent of the population are Muslim.
In 2027, Eid al-Adha falls on Sunday 16 May. The holiday will be on Friday 5 May in 2028.

Very few Rwandans can afford to go on the Hajj Pilgrimage to Mecca this time of year, and so most stay to celebrate at home.
The major events of the Eid al-Adha festival are attendance at special mosque services, sacrificing an animal to commemorate the near-sacrifice of Ishmael, feasting with family and friends, and giving donations of food, money, or both to the poor so they too can have a “happy Eid”.
