Labour Day 2024, 2025 and 2026 in Kenya

Kenyans celebrate Labour Day on 1 May every year. Most people have the entire day off work and some may attend a public labour union event to celebrate the contribution of Kenya’s labouring class to its culture and economy.

The main events organised for Labour Day by the government of Kenya take place in Uhuru Park in Nairobi. The nation’s president will give a speech, and labour union leaders will also get a chance to be heard. There will be an official annual theme that varies year by year, but the need for salaries to keep pace with inflation, for health and safety improvements at workplaces, and for workers’ constitutional rights to be respected always seem to be a part of the speeches.

Some will attend labour union events or just-for-fun public events on Labour Day, while others prefer to stay home and relax.
