A majority of the holidays celebrated in Somalia are based on the Muslim faith. Most of these holidays are based on the lunar cycle and may fall on different days each year. It is understood that the Somalian government uses the Arithmetical Islamic Calendar, however they may also use the dates that are given from Mecca for these dates.
