Interestingly, although Muhammad was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in A.D. 570, Saudi Arabia is one of the only countries not to give Muhammad’s Birthday official status. And some stricter sects in Tunisia too will refuse to celebrate it. But for the most part, Tunisians have long kept Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday in grand style.
In Tunisia, the Prophet’s Birthday is a time for families to get together and enjoy a feast. Additionally, there will be processions and other special events put on throughout the country. The holiday is kept with great fanfare.
