The Togolese Republic celebrates 12 national holidays each year. National holidays are governed by Article 84, Title 5, of the new 2002 Togolese Constitution and the 2006 Labour Code. These new laws and the new Constitution override any previous laws or amendments to these laws used to determine national holidays.

Employers are required to provide a day off for all national holidays. It is believed that these holidays are paid holidays for all employees. However, some sources state that only government employees receive pay for holidays.

Additional sources state that employers determine if holidays are paid for in their individual employment contracts. If an employee is required to work on a paid holiday due to the nature of their job, the law requires that these employees be provided with a day off in lieu of the holiday.
